About 5 days ago, Acuminata was -40meg in the hole after completing as many builds as I could before allowing my stockpiles to fill.
Twice per day I hauled out my top 15 producers and hauled in my top 15 deficits. My treasury increased by about 12Meg per day doing this. As soon as I crossed into profit, everything ground to a halt and even though I am doing exactly the same I am now only making about 1.5Meg per day.
I have changed nothing. Any clues?

I'm sure there is some mathematical explanation that someone else can provide, but I've noticed BIG differences in the speed of my exchanges from day to day. Right now, they are running fast, but a few days ago, they were running so slow that it took forever for me to fill up my stockpiles.
My planet makes more when I haul IN and the exchange is fast. My planetary economy barely budges when I build up stockpiles and the exchange is running slow. I've been messing around with different spreads and levels to walk up the exchange, but haven't come across anything mind-shattering. Still looking for that magic number that allows me to walk up the exchange, but lose the least amount of money doing so.
Hope someone gives you a decent answer!

Will have to think a bit on Monkey's question, however the question on fast/slow exchanges is easy.
The more traders and merchants in the game, the faster the exchanges run. For whatever reason, I seem to notice it in groups of 4 (i.e. 4, 8, 12 merchant / traders) move the exchanges more quickly.

Were you hauling in/out the same tonnage? If the exchanges were running slower and you hauled less, simple math.

Nope. Always the exact same amount hauled. The change happened almost dead on the cross from debt to profit.

welp... i can't say i've noticed a lot of differences between my last economy and my current one- other than that my rolls both suck in comparison. i've been using the same strategies that i've outlined before... still making about the same money... nothing too exciting. as for speed of exchanges, they have been fluctuating pretty wildly the past few weeks. i can think of a few things that would change your income slightly- but not anything that would change as much as monkey has seen... so any further info would be interesting to learn- let us know if things change monkey

Smitty, seeing your post reminded me, I wanted to ask you a question about your second planet. I noticed it was a resource planet. Was it just a typical "promote" that promoted your second planet? I've been checking Mogul's second planets from time to time to see if it was possible, then I noticed yours had already promoted!
I've been slowly transferring money from my main planet to my second one to "attempt" to build infrastructure. Sometimes, the only thing that keeps me from blowing the planet to smithereens is that I can look forward to getting a new roll someday!!

hey brooke- yep i just did a regular promote on the second one. mostly because my agri roll was soooooo bad. resource is pretty good in comparison. plus, just before the crash i was almost maxed out on cash, so i just decided to spend a bunch.
now i'm down to just over a gig in cash between both planets... haven't really had any motivation to make more...

I'm at the same point. Fairly bored. Check in occasionally but not like pre-crash.
Have max is all 3 treasuries (plus personal). Both of my current exchanges suck. I could easily make money with them but why bother? But they still suck...lol. I may go ahead and promote the second planet just so I can build a little and release some of the presure on the treasuries.

I don't mean to take away from your boredom, but I am impressed that you guys have maxed-out treasuries! I don't know Oddball's path to get to his riches, but Smitty...I believe you started out slowly making money for your builds by filling defs...seem to recall you having to make 30 megs before promoting so you could do your housing builds? Here I am trying to eke out 10 megs every two or three days! I didn't start my planet with a lot of money, too. Wasn't the most productive factory owner, but then again, I only had Sol to place my facs! I am feeling bored with hauling and that's saying a lot. I normally love to do it. I don't think I'll be that excited to get mobiles or events, but perhaps I just don't understand what all that entails. I'm motivated to get all the builds done for all three planets, though. I can see a bit of why you feel the way you do, because you guys have all your builds finished, maybe even for the next rank? Well, I'm still impressed!

well, i did start slowly, but after i really took some time to tweak my formulas and do some hauling out i started making money pretty quickly. at the moment, i have 204 builds total (132 on numazu, and 72 on helix) - which is equivalent to just over 2 gig.... yep, it took a while to get there. as for cash, i have 500 meg in each planet right now- so i've got room to make another 2 gig or so. i'm not sure if i actually will try though. here's a little trick if you ever get close to maxing your treasury- you can store another 1 gig in your space map - so that would be 1 gig in each planet, and 1 gig in space- for a total of 3 generally speaking, with a minimum of effort i can make 5-6 gig per planet per day. if i work as i normally do- i'll usually double that. I suppose if i worked really, really hard, i might be able to make 25 daily for each... but i'm lazy sooooooo yep, i'm kinda bored. i guess i actually didn't have much to say, did i?

No secret to how I did it. Haul haul haul. Became obvious pretty quickly that there is little difference between how exchanges run here from when I played long ago. So, went back to my old strategies (as I remembered them...lol)

As a little experiment, I plunged my planet back into debt by putting stockpiles at 20k until it was at -10Meg.
I stabilised the economy by setting the stockpiles maxs to the current levels and went back to hauling exactly as I had been before.
In less than 24hrs my treasury went positive and then ground to a halt exactly as before. A day later it is at 3,500,000. So the conclusion is that my planet makes 13meg per day when in debt but only a quarter of that when in credit.

so were you hauling in or out after everything stabilized?
my guess is that people saw your huge stockpiles and trading there was massively increased, which pushed you positive.
